The world of Botanicus

Our organic roots are deeply planted in the heart of Bohemia.  At Botanicus we pride ourselves on originality. quality and the health-enhancing nature of our products.  Everything carrying the Botanicus name has the benefit of a wealth of herbal and botanical experience, designed to give you the best products and the most enjoyment from the world of plants.

Our love and understanding of the world of plants

The cultivation of plants, herbs, fruit and vegetables in our own organic garden provides the foundation for the production of extracts, liquors and oil. Unlike other companies, we only use fresh herbs, not dried. The gardens are right next to the production facility so fresh plants can be processed immediately.  All base material grown in our gardens is qualified as BIO.

We have thirty hectares of organic cultivation with no chemical spraying fertilizers or growth stimulators.  The gardens have both decorative and production sections that compliment each other and create harmony.

Natural cosmetics and food production comes from our garden.  Other product ranges include dried plants, candles, handmade paper, etc.  We always strive to reach the highest possible proportions of natural ingredients such as extracts and essential oils.  We try to develop products that do not rely on preservatives; the first is a collection of sheanut butter products, Dead Sea mask and a range of BIO soaps.

Food products with the Botanicus name come from our garden, cooked, processed and produced in small batches and can genuinely be referred to as “handmade”.

Education

Botanicus actively encourages practical training for horticultural students; we believe  “hands-on” is vital to provide the fully rounded gardening graduate.

In research circles, we are cooperating with the Czech Agricultural University in Prague.  One project involves the cultivation of 160 unique tomato varieties grown at Botanicus; studies are being undertaken to evaluate the resistance to fungal diseases and early results show that chemical treatment is not necessarily the answer.

We also welcome school visits at Botanicus.  It is especially rewarding to see the positive reactions of children to their involvement in plants, flowers and food produced in a natural environment.

What makes bio cultivation so different from conventional agriculture?

By allowing nature to follow through its cycle of seasons without chemical intervention we, at Botanicus, can create products that are richer in natural aromas, flavours and herbal qualities.

Producing mulch and compost from plant material and giving it back to the land is essential in terms of enriching and feeding our gardens.  During cultivation we try to adhere to balanced cropping patterns to maintain and increase fertility of the soil and the content of organic substances.
